Poodle
Rob asked:

I recently took my toy poodle to a groomer and the groomer though he was a Bichon. I looked up the breed and found that they are somewhat similar to poodles. I am just wondering what the differences are between the two breeds (other than origin, mainly physical features only). I have no doubt that my poodle is a poodle, I have been around poodles almost my entire life and I purchased my poodle from a reputable breeder.

Sleeping puppies (or are they dead? ;-) set to the classic song by Ogden Edsl that we loved so much all those years ago on Dr. Demento. The song is available on iTunes; search for Dead Puppies and Ogden Edsl. It belongs in everyone’s collection.

Dog Food Secrets!

With the recent trouble with Michael Vick and his involvement in dog fighting rings, the subject of animal cruelty is on everyone’s minds as of late. But the great unspoken is how animals such as pigs, cows, ducks, and chickens are treated in your basic food processing plants; from cows’ throats being slashed, to ducks being forcefed with a tube down their throat. If dog fighting is a felony offense, then why do major food processing corporations continue to administer their own brand of animal cruelty? Who decided that dogs have more rights than other animals?
If your response is to point out the fact that animals in food processing plants are for food, and therefore the treatment is acceptable, I then ask you this: If dogs were considered food, would it then be acceptable?

I work a 9-5 job and only have the evenings and weekends free to devote to a puppy? Would a Yorkshire Terrier be a good choice?

I’ve had my dog for about 2 months now. I rescued him from a shelter, he came from an abusive background but he’s a great dog. He’s very aggressive with other dogs though. He growls when he’s near them and I’ve learned that it’s because he wants to get to know them but he doesn’t “introduce” himself properly. A month ago, he was attacked by another dog and it was horrible. I thought he was going to get killed. Thankfully, that didn’t happen but now I’m so afraid when I take him for walks or to the park. I feel like something like that will happen again and I won’t be able to get him out of the situation. The minute I see another dog, I take my dog and we leave. I can’t even enjoy my time out with him because I’m constantly looking for other dogs. What should I do?
