Bulldog
dag asked:

I put in an application to rescue a bulldog, and I was contacted yesterday and told there were 2 available. The rescue volunteers had an in-home visit and showed pictures of the dogs and we picked one out. They said the adoption fee was $600. I know these are very expensive dogs, but is this a little high? They said they will hold the check for 30 days to make sure we’re happy with the dog, and it will also come with it’s own crate. Does this sound right?

Bulldog
JBReafsnyder asked:

Okay. So long story short, I am going to be making my first visit in a few weeks to my girlfriend’s hometown and meeting not just her parents (she’s an only child), but an english bulldog that her parents and her treat as if it’s her brother.

I have been forewarned (half-jokingly, of course) that whether or not this dog likes me will set the tone with the parents. Of course I don’t put much stock into this, but I am not necessarily a dog person (I grew up with outdoor cats that we saw every few days) and I know that every little bit helps. I am not necessarily a dog fan (she knows it), particularly of bigger dogs like labs that won’t stop jumping on me – obviously not the case with an english bulldog.

Any advice on how I can best win this dog over? We have some side betting between the two of us on this as well, so there’s a little bit more on the line than it may seem!

Thanks for any input.

I am intrested in furthering my dogs training. They have mastered basic obedience and now I would like to take them further. I am not quit sure what I want to to teach them to do but they love learning(and so do I) so much that it would be a shame not to teach them all I can. I am not sure the names of the different types of training or what they include. Any and all info appricated. Thanks!

Miniature Schnauzer
boxbeatle asked:

I would never let any dog roam, but it would be nice to be able to play with a dog off leash in our yard. We currently have a wonderful Siberian Husky, we love her very much, but Siberians are one breed that absolutely can not be trusted off leash. I have read that most terriors cannot (like the Westie). Any additional Miniature Schnauzer information would be helpful. I have done some research and I cannot find anyone that says it can’t be trusted.
Ok… I should clarify. I know dogs well, I have taken 3 dogs through obidience. I knew ahead of time about the Husky (I had one prior) ALL experts, even AKC will report that the Husky can NEVER be trusted off leash. That said the Mini Schnauzer is not a terrier either, that is why I am looking at it for a pet. I have considered a Westie also, just know that terriers are notorious for chasing, therfore can’t be totally trusted. I will train our new puppy, I just want a different, less likely to run off dog that can be trusted to stay close once trained.

I just got a beagle not too long ago, and I want to house break him, as far as using the bathroom outside and not jumping up on the couch and things like that.
