Tina H asked: First of all, let me make it clear that I am not looking to train my dog to attack random people. I’m a homeowner, and quite frankly, don’t want to get sued. However, I do live in a *very* remote area off the interstate in southwest Florida. We have a lot of homeless people that wander down here and take up residence in the woods near our homes, most of whom are sexual predators.
Anyways, I have a female German Shepherd that is 7 months old. She has an average prey drive, and I’d like to get her to attack on command. I’ve already had her trained to secure the property (she runs around the yard sounding an alert bark). I just need to know if there are any trainers out there that could point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Kate T asked:
My 3 year old
beagle won’t stick around the house at the cabin. We watch him very closely and if we turn our backs he sneaks away. Usually we can see him in the next yard and we go after him, but then he runs and it turns into a game for him. Most of the time he is on the trail of some creature. I realize that this is bred into him. We have done obediance training and he knows the ‘come’ command. He just gets into a different state of mind when he catches the scent. A fence isn’t really an option due to the size of our lot and the amount of tree coverage. Please only constructive answers.
He is neutered and we have tried a run. This seems to make it worse when he is let off of the run he takes off.
Suggestions that recommend nailing his front paw to the steps isn’t what I would consider constructive.
Invisible fence won’t work either because we have a lake and you can’t go under the lake. I have heard stories baout placing a fence along the 3 sides but then the dog just goes into the lake and around the shock line.

Rae asked: Unfortunaly I live in San Jose, CA. So if you know anyone that lives around my area and has a new litter of baby pugs, please help me out. I’ve been wanting one for so long, but there hasn’t been any sellers around my area, which makes it harder for me to actually be up close in personal with a puppie of my choice. So if you know any information, please contact me ASAP!
Thank You.

Robin asked: My parents, both in their mid sixties, had to put their dog down a couple weeks ago. They are still grieving but are probably going to get another dog in the spring. Mom wants a dog that’s not too old but I can’t see them dealing with a hyperactive puppy. Their old dog was about 60 pounds but I think they will want a smaller dog this time. Does anyone have suggestions on which breeds are more laid back and easier to train and which ones they should stay away from? Thanks for your suggestions!

jinxwinx asked: My golden retreiver will not allow other dogs to come near me (except my other golden) in the dog park and outside. I can not even go up to them anymore! I try time outs, but it is very hard to get her attention and the other dogs’ owners freak out thinking that she will hurt their dog. She plays fine (submissively) with any dog as long as they don’t get close to me. Any ideas?
