My boyfriend’s dog is four years old. We are moving in together and I would like the dog to be allowed in the house. Unfortunately, our future roommates have a house cat. The dog has never been socialized, doesn’t like other dogs and tries to get cats when we go for walks. He is a nice dog, extremely cute and great with children. He just wasn’t socialized/trained to get along with other animals. Has anybody had this experience? Have you been successful introducing an older dog to other animals, especially a cat, and having them become friends, or at least, not kill each other? Let me know if you have and what you did to accomplish it. Thanks.

If it matters, he’s an American Eskimo dog and weighs about 24 pounds.

Is there a toy out there that would last long through constant chewing and abuse, but is also soft and “indistructable”?
