How can we get our 8 month pomeranian to lose weight? He’s a toy dog and weighs 9 pounds, while the limit is 6 to 7 pounds. So, he’s overweight by 2 or 3 pounds. Even though it’s a little over the limit, it makes a difference for a toy dog’s health. His skin feels fatty/ blubbery, but not too much.
We give him about 1/2 cup of food added with peas and milk (sometimes yam) twice a day. He also gets exercise- around 1 to 3 laps around our neighbour hood. His treat is a dried chicken breast once a day.
Thanks!!

We have a labrador retriever who was bred from a family of intelligent dogs… yet he never seems to ‘get’ anything! he has a very short attention span. We’ve house trained him and got him to do sit, stay (only for food – typical lab!) paw and other paw but he doesn’t understand lie down or returning to you or anything. he walks ok on the lead but needs a lot of reminding. when he’s off the lead he just bounds over to any dog/person he sees… i had to run after him with a pushchair last week whilst he was chasing a runner! it was so embarrasing! he also jumps up to greet but he’s such a big dog he bowls everyone over. he chews up anything and everything he manages to find… he even ate a loaf of bread the other day (but wont eat his dry food??!)
i know we’ve got some basics which is the most important but where do we go from here? he just doesnt listen!

My dog is a puggle (1/2 pug, 1/2 beagle) and she sniffs everything everywhere, everytime.
Sometimes it’s freezing outside when we take her outside to do her duties and she is more interested in sniffing a new blade of grass than doing her business….
Is there any way to speed up the pee pee process?
We stay on the porch and say, “hurry up” along with some other choice phrases, but she seems uninterested in what we have to say.
She will speed up the process if I get real aggravated and walk towards her through the wet grass, which I was trying to avoid doing. Then she will only take a couple minutes longer, (if there aren’t any new and exciting smells to investigate) and finally do her business because she knows Im mad.
Is there any way to speed up this process and keep my feet dry at the same time…?

I am considering adopting an 8 month old male Dachshund but he was acused of biting a neighbors kid. I don’t know the details of the acutual incident, but the owner is denying it. The kid’s parent called the police and made a report as well as took the kid to the doctor so there is a paper trail here. The puppy is not available for adoption until after a court hearing to determine if he is a biter or not. It just seems to me to acuse a puppy of biting viciously is not right, especially for this breed. I can think of a lot of defense for this poor little puppy whose fate is in the hands of a court. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
