dog training
Jenni B asked:

How can I train my dog to not pull on the leash when I walk him? He was a year old when I adopted him and I have had him about two months now. Everything I have tried doesnt seem to stick. So now I am thinking about getting a choke chain…. Anyone have any suggestions?

Okay I know some people are against it, but I have a miniature schnauzer who is the cutest thing, and means the world to me! His name is Sparky…anyway my brother-in-law is getting married in a few weeks, and he lives in AL with my in-laws in a huge house and they also have a schnauzer which is Sparky’s dad. My in-laws have been around schnauzers for a while and they cherish them and I’m beginning to see why, they’re awesome! Anyway, my father-in-law agrees with me and is trying to get Sparky’s dad a ring bearer outfit because he’s like part of the family, but my husband and my mother-in-law don’t like it. I’m down to my last few weeks….should I get a tux for my dog??? I’m torn…..help if you can—don’t hate though okay it’s not torture for my dog….
Okay,
1. Brother-in-law and future wife of his is fine with it, once again they’re dressing their dog.
2. If he doesn’t keep the tux on then I can return it I know someone.
3. I’m taking the dog because I don’t want to leave him home in VA alone, when I’m going to Alabama!
4. He’s like my KID!
5. He doesn’t cause trouble he’s a great listener.

Please work with this!

His name is Willy. He’s about 2 1/2 years old. I have another dog that’s half Dachshund and half Cocker Spaniel. She’s about 5 1/2 years old. They’ve always, always been friends. Well, not so much when I first got Willy because he wanted to nuzzle on a teat and Squirt wasn’t mom.

But, both of these dogs are fixed. Willy was fixed at about 6 months old. Now, two years later, it seems like he’s depressed. Can dogs suffer from depression? My vet say’s no, and I’ve spent over $200 on tests and they say everything is fine.

I think my dachshund is depressed. Is that possible?

I have a 1.5 year old large german shepherd mix. He’s a really smart dog and I already trained him multiple tricks that he knows by heart. The thing is I’m moving on to the more difficult tricks and I just can’t seem to keep his attention long enough. He’s a very hiper dog and when I try to get his attention he gets over excited and jumps and plays. I teaching him play dead right now and he can’t seem to get the be still part of it. I just want to get his attention and keep it, any advice?
I use treats when training
