  1. Jen P Says:

no , I don’t think that the dog will do something . I understand where you are coming from it’s just a bad rap the dogs heave so sad .

  2. Snuffles ? Says:

    Not at all.

  3. Nekai Says:

    Never.

Smaller dogs tend to bite me more, tho.

  4. stacyandjason212 Says:

I love them both. Dobermans too. The bigger the dog, the bigger the baby they are.

  5. owltyedup Says:

Nope. I don’t get nervous around any certain breed of dog. Only a dogs actions and body language can make me nervous. Usually the ones that make me shudder are the little ankle biters that people let run loose!
It is sorta funny though. Though I can’t see your avitar very well… the dog in the picture looks like a Pit Bull mix!

  6. JP -- PitPal Says:

Bred to be what way? look scary?

There is no reason to be afraid of either of those two breeds anymore than there is for any other breed.

I tend not to fear any dog really, you can read their body language and tell if they are friendly/skiddish/mean. For some reason all dogs big and small love me.

Fighting dogs dont attack people, they attack dogs

  7. Ella Dummet Says:

Yes, I am . but I feel horrible about it , because they could be the nicest dog ever .

I get a little nervous around a pit, but strangely enough, I’m fine with a rottie. Rots were not bred to fight though. They were bred for guard duty, so if you’re in their territory, they can be pretty protective. The pits main job was fighting, and though breeders have done well at breeding a lot of aggressiveness out of the breed, there are still unethical peole who don’t care about temperments and will breed unstable dogs. So while a pit can be great, care and caution should still be used. Be careful about rotties too though. A lot of the same thing applies to unethical breeders.

  9. JanelleRVT Says:

They do have a bad reputation for being aggressive – this is caused by these dogs being owned by people who mistreat them or do not provide proper obedience training & socialization when they were young puppies. I always use caution when handling someone elses dog, I have met some aggressive dogs of many different breeds & some extremely friendly pit bulls & rotties. It all depends on the dog – not so much the breed.

  10. king of slitheres Says:

    no i love thous dogs

  11. alie Says:

nope – my 11 yr old is trying to convince me to get her a rotti! as far as im concernd wether it be a cat, dog, mouse whatever if it has a mouth it has the capability to bite!! i know of a poodle that is nasty and the owner has a court order to muzzle it coz its bitten a few people! so its not jut the usual suspects that can bite people!

most dogs are they way that they are because of the way the owners have bought them up.

  12. Kiki Says:

I have 3 Rotties ages 4, 5,6 I’m not nervous i did my job as a responsible owner and trained them I’m the Alpha and they all know this .. As top other peoples rotts and Pitts no I’m not nervous i don’t fear them either dogs can scenes when fear is around or when something is wrong

  13. JessicaBoo Says:

depends on how there owners handle them. no dog should be running around town by themself

  14. Flossy Says:

No, one of my bf breeds pit bulls and all of hers are sweet, and I used to own a doberman and a rotty mix they were both much sweeter than my blue heeler and my border collie who would both snap a strangers hand off if provoced.

  15. Lynn G Says:

Not really. I’m not afraid of dog in the least. The only ones who seem to have a problem with me are those little yappy dogs with the needle teeth that couldn’t even break the skin. I’d be less surprised if I were attacked by a unicorn than if any type of dog bit me and meant it hard.

  16. animalsrme Says:

    Pitbulls-no
    Rotties-yes

  17. Love Training Says:

Not at all, unless I see them with a huge choke chain & hauling someone who is trying to look *bad* behind them. They are not bred to be *that way.* They can, however, be trained to be *that way.* I have worked with many pits and rotts in the training ring and have honestly had some goldens that were scarier. There is bad breeding in any breed and bad training as well. Most pit bulls and rottweilers are sweet dogs.

  18. charlieandallison@verizon.net Says:

I get nervous when I see any dog just roaming around. Any dog can attack no matter what breed it is. I have an American Pit bull Terrier and she is the sweetest dog I have ever seen. She’s never been even slightly aggressive towards anyone and she’s GREAT with kids. I believe there is a BIG misunderstanding when it comes to dogs. If you raise them right and care for them properly you will have a good dog. If they are malnourished or mistreated then you could have a problem.

  19. Heather M Says:

First and for most they were not breed this way. We the people raised them this way. There are good and bad dogs in every breed. Pits have just been the most neglected and abused breed out there today. Some day there will be another that you fear and youll look back and realize we are the mosters behind these dogs. If any dog is loose in a ruff neighborhood Im not going to just walk over to it but I would keep my gaurd up no matter what breed it is. Most dogs you see loose are neglected and not trained or have no human contact. I love my pit bull along with other breeds. A few weeks ago a Jack Russel mauled a baby to death while it was sleeping. Your gonna tell me that a person who leaves a 6 week old baby alone sleeping in contact with any animal was responsible. Thats what the problem is behind this breed. You never hear about other dogs attacking and killing because it doesnt fuel the media. Its so sad when I take my dog out and people will let there kids love all over him. Then they ask what kind he is and they grab there kids up like he ripped there face of. Its descrimantion and we are not taking care of the true problems behind these dog. So sad you would judge them! They are just like humans no matter what race we are all still the same. We all have hearts and well all need love and attention. Next time your at your vet ask them what the most aggresive dog is I bet they dont say either one of these dogs.

  20. 1hotmama Says:

FIRST OF ALL, not all pitbulls are trained killers….
IT’s TRAINING and INBREEDING that makes them behave poorly. Even then, it’s not the dogs that are bad, but the OWNERS!
MOST pitbulls are loving and loyal. There is no reason to be afraid. As with ANY dog, if they sense fear they are likely to react in an unfavorable way.
Please dont hold the sins of humans against a whole breed of beautiful animals.
    A PITBULL LOVER FOR LIFE!!!!!

  21. Pit Bully Love Says:

They were bred to be WHAT way? Your statement makes no sense.

I’m more nervous around idiot owners and the ignorant. That’s what makes me nervous.

  22. SpringRose Says:

Nope, not nervous at all. I have 3 pit bulls and they are wonderful dogs. My grandpa had 2 rotties before he died and they were great dogs as well. My pits are loyal, well behaved, loving and friendly to everyone. They get along great with my cats and are very gentle around my son. My son rides them like a horse and one of them sleeps next to his bed every night.

  23. Maureen S Says:

No not in the least. It is usually the owner who creates a problem with any dog. My son has two rottweilers and he loves them. They are the nicest, sweetest pets because they are treated well.

Dogs can feel the fear in a person. I never have fear when I am near a dog and have never been bitten or attacked. I put my hand out first, with my palm up, under their chin, which doesn’t scare them.

However, if a dog has been ill treated or has been used as a guard dog, then you will be able to feel their energy. Some of them are on chains for their whole life and any human who was treated the same way would also be angry and vicious.

If I see that that is the case I approach very warily I do not approach them, I talk to them in a calm voice and wait to see what kind of movement it makes. If it still seems angry after talking to it for about five minutes, I back off. Sadly, we have to think of our own safety sometimes, and we have to be sure that we are not walking into the arms of an angry animal.

When a human being mistreats an animal it literally makes me sick. Having “domain” over an animal does not mean utter control, it means “to look after and protect”.

  24. raven blackwing Says:

No I worry about the a**holes that own them. 95% of all pit bulls are owned by people like me who love, train and take care of thier pit bulls. The other 5% are the ones giving us all bad names.

  25. DH Says:

Rottweilers – no, Pit Bulls – yes. Maybe it’s because I have relatives with Rottweilers that are very nice dogs.

  26. brandi Says:

I don’t get nervous around pit bulls. I do get nervous around rottweilers. Not because of their breed. but because of the colour they are. I am more nervous and/or afraid of black dogs. I have nothing against the breed.. just the colour. given time i do get over my fear of the dog.

  27. Wolfgang Says:

No I love pit bulls and Rottweilers They just get a bad rap.
They can be very sweet dogs
