Of course! In our garden we have a saint Bernard, an Alsatian, a fox terrier, a basset hound and two yorkees (toy)! Oh, and three tom cats! They all have they place and the smalls are sleeping with the biggens! Just try to see how your Yorkie will during the day for a month or so and you'see her or him the leader of the pack. I would put them in tonight though cause they're so small and can look helpless-the last thing they are- and after all they're ment to sleep indoors!

Any dog can live on a farm but Yorkies are more meant as indoor dogs.

Dogs that are more suited to farms are from the Herding class of dogs such as Collies, Australian Cattle Dogs, Border Collies, German Shepherds, English Sheepdogs, Corgis, etc.

sure it can but don't expect it to be an outside dog. it's too small and would be prey.

I was born and raised on a farm and we had cats and dogs all the while we were kids, and still do. Never had a problem with anything big or small being able to adapt to farm life. Personally I think that the animlas are a lot safer in the country than in a city. Go for it, I see no problem.

hmmm..
do you have pigs, cows, and horses on the farm?
if so, you'd have to be so EXTREMELY careful to keep him away, as they would easily trample him (that's what they do to small things running around their feet, like mice and snakes). and the pond could pose a problem, as yorkies have problems swimming for long periods of time, so I would buy him a doggie life jacket. besides that, he's fine. (and you need to have a fenced in space for him to play in, thats doggy safe. because he will run away accidentaly if left to run wherever he wants. so I suggest leashing him when you want to walk around the house. or at least until he gets old enough to understand.)

good luck!

Let me remind you of one thing: Birds of prey, like barn owls and hawks, are known to swoop on small dogs like yorkies. If I had a yorkie in the country, I'd never let him or her out unattended for a second. Heard too many stories.

Peace

any dog can live on a farm. I have a friend who lived on a farm, and they have a pomeranian (the pom is around 5 lbs), and she does fine. The pom is kept indoor most of the time but still goes out occasionally.

You'll have to train the Yorkie where you want him to go, and where you don't want him to go. Personally, though, with a dog as small as a yorkie, I'd keep it inside most of the time.

Hope that helps
