Rebecca of Faraway Farm asked:
I wasn’t sure if it was supposed to be a comedy / satiric show at the point when the pet owners were showing off the tricks of the dogs — it reminded me of an over-prolonged STUPID PET TRICKS segment on David Letterman talk show (also on CBS) but it is paced out so, so, so long with overdramatized “tension” like on The Amazing Race or other Reality TV concept shows. . .Couldn’t they run some of the shows back-to-back and get to the finale more quickly and move back to some reruns of fan-requested shows during the Aug. 8 – following weeks OLYMPIC coverage on NBC ? ? Why or Why not ?

Rudie asked: I have searched google, and can only fine the following recipe, which of course didn’t work well. I am a great chef, and I know about cooking, making emulsions, etc. I even used whole spices, roasted them and then ground them. My sausages came out gray and tasteless. How do I make great American Style hot dogs and also great German style franks?
This is the recipe that didn’t work for me:
* 3 feet sheep or small (1-1/2-inch diameter) hog casings
* 1 pound lean pork, cubed
* 3/4 pound lean beef, cubed
* 1/4 pound pork fat, cubed
* 1/4 cup very finely minced onion
* 1 small clove garlic, finely chopped
# 1 teaspoon finely ground coriander
# 1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
# 1/4 teaspoon ground mace
# 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard seed
# 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
# 1 teaspoon freshly fine ground white pepper
# 1 egg white
# 1-1/2 teaspoons sugar
# 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
# 1/4 cup milk

cashew asked: The Greatest American Dog last night? I was sadly disappointed with the dogs that were chosen to compete.
d b: I kept thinking this was like Doggy Survivor. You know, they had Rudy, the old man, the gay guy, the dumb one…etc.
Rayven Wolf: You didn’t miss much.

Terry P asked: In response to a question I read, I have to ask why the confusion? There so many people that call their Akita Japanese when it isn’t! The Japanese Akita and the Akita (American Akita/Great Japanese Dog) have been seperate breeds for years. The only countries in the world that still don’t recognize the Japanese Akita as a seperate breed is the US and Canada, so why all the confusion?!
Japanese Akita only come in red/white, pure white and brindle and must have urajiro markings. No breed standard allows Japanese Akita to be any other colour, pinto or have a black mask!
I don’t understand why so many people don’t know this, just read the breed standard! Here is the KC breed standard for Japanese Akita for example:
http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/162
Check out this video comparing the two and see how different the true Japanese Akita is!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGln3ajJjao
It’s like calling a Labrador a Golden Retiever, they look similar but are two seperate breeds!
The KC is the UK Kennel Club, and all the other Kennel Clubs around the world have the same standard besides the US and Canada.
How did I anwser my queston? I have no clue why people mix them up! I’d like to know! lol
That is true about dog breeds, but that’s what I have a problem with, people don’t do research and don’t know the breed of their own dog! Japanese and American have different temperaments so I think it’s pretty important that people stop confusing them, or people will be expecting something and get something else! lol
Yes! 100% agree about the Bernese. Another breed I love and it’s such a shame!

iceblendedmochajavo asked: I recently got a vizsla (pic to the left). I noticed almost an explosion of this breed, as a few decades ago it was almost extinct. Overall it has a great temperament. I see this breed taking off in america.
Over all what is the best dog to have for the average american? And what breeds do you see will become popular in the next 10 years?

shefy7 asked: Mine is 2 years old, super healthy. He only drinks water, I’d like to give him a treat once in awhile. He’s on a raw diet and doing great. I’m hesitant to give him milk bc I’ve heard it can give them diarhea since dogs tend to be intolerant…. I drink Lactaid myself, can I give him that? Thanks in advance!

Witters, Man That Can! asked: Akita. I cannot get her to agree that having two different breeds in the home is just as good as having two of the same type. I love my Akita and would argue that Akita’s are an awesome breed but I like to study all breeds and think that the boerboel dogs are just as great. I could not care less about breeding and would never cross breed. I just think that there are numerous great breeds out there so why not have more than one type of dog. Do you agree?
Rotties – Ridgebacks – Dobes – Mastiffs – Shar Pei – Kangal’s -
American Bulldogs – To name but a few. They are all great and I would love to own a different breed but my wife says NO.
She wants to breed the Akita’s and she loves the breed. That’s fine but I am gutted. Would you own two different breeds: What breed of dog do you own now and what other breed would you like to own?
