OK, for one, there is no correlation between owning a purebred and having difficulty potty training. That's completely bogus. The only difference between dogs as far as housebreaking goes is that smaller dogs are sometimes harder to train because the world is so much bigger to them, so if they make a mess in one corner of a room they can just hang out in the other corner and forget about it easier.

I agree that crate training would be good. Take your dogs out every hour to pee - it may sound drastic, but if they don't go, then take them out within the next half hour to try again. Every time they go successfully, praise them heavily, with a treat if they are food motivated. If you are unable to watch your dog for any length of time, put them in the crate.

Furthermore, you need to stop using potty pads all together and just deal with cleaning up their messes until this is resolved. Potty pads send a mixed message when you are trying to outdoor train - they confuse the dogs by giving the message "Sometimes it is ok to go in the house but sometimes it isn't" ???

Housebreaking is never fun, so just remember to be patient.
Also, don't ever let your dogs see you clean up their mess. Shut the door on them or put them in their crate where they can't see you when you clean it - or else they will just expect you to clean all their accidents and will thus be harder to train.

well, you need to start crate training them...THROW THE DAMN PUPPY PADS AWAY....it's a mess, and a waste of money!
Put them in their own crate, and take them out every 30 minutes or so after eating or drinking.......PRAISE THEM with hugs, and kisses when they go potty outside, when you are taking them out of the crate, keep saying potty outside, potty outside, and when you do get outside, tell them go potty outside....I did this with my rat terrier, and it works.....Praise them with treats, and a high pitched voice of YAY or something positive when they do potty outside....if they should have accidents in the house, dont punish them hard, just firmly tell them NO, better if you catch them in the act of it, and take them outside immediatley, GIVE THEM A TREAT OUTSIDE IF THEY FINSIHED there. It's hard, and discouraging, put a positive attitude and a schedule you will have it licked in no time!

That's one of the curses of owning a purebred toy dog. They may never be fully potty trained. Sorry!

You can use the serach box above to look for other answers to similar questions. Some great answers have been given as this question is asked numerous times a day.

If you bought from a reputable breeder, you can also try calling them to see if they have any suggestions. Good luck to you.

This may sound rediculous but have you considered kitty litter for your pooches? You may also want to put your dog out every 15 minutes. As soon as he is done drinking and eating, putting him outside. Also praise him very much, sensing the positive attitude from you will encourage him to do his business outdoors.
