msflightattendant asked:

I have a boy and girl dachshund. He doesn’t hump her anymore and I squeeze her nipples and I see milk. Does this mean she is pregnant? How can I tell without going to a dr.?

No, she might just be lactating. My dog does that from time to time and produces milk in preparation for puppies that she’s not having. It’s normal and I think it’s just to make sure things are working. But just to be safe, you should keep an eye on her for a bump.

Why the f*ck would you not want to take her to the vet?????
Another case of idiots who get animals and don’t know how to take proper care of them. You aught to be shot.

Canine gestation lasts approximately 63 days. Signs of pregnancy include an increase in appetite, weight and nipple size. However, a bitch with false pregnancy may also show these signs. A veterinarian can usually confirm a pregnancy through abdominal palpitation at 28 days, or by using ultrasound or X-rays.

Once pregnancy is confirmed, you should talk to your vet about special feeding requirements and about what to expect during pregnancy, labor, and after birth. You should also be briefed on how to recognize and respond to an emergency.

If you have a boy and a girl dachshund and they were together while she was in heat (that would be when he was humping her)
You can start naming the puppies, because you can bet your butt she is pregnant.
As much as fordkiller is an inconsiderate ass with the way he answers a question…..you should really have tried to read up and get more information when you noticed your male dog was humping the female.
I am sure you had a good idea what was going on.
You will actually be able to look at her stomach and tell she is pregnant at about 50 days. She will look like she swallowed a foot ball.
Please make plans on what you will need to do when she goes into labor. There are SOOOO many things to plan for. And so many things that can go wrong.
Is this her first litter? How old is she? If she is under 2 years of age (that is like an 11 year old child having a baby) there is a much higher risk of problems, simply because the dog is still a baby herself and will have NO idea what is happening.
Be with her during this time REMEMBER you allowed her to get in the condition she finds herself in.
