You have 2 train them to retrieve. Just b/c “Retriever” is in their name does not mean it’s natural. Just keep working w/ them.

1 of my retrievers is like that if you throw a stone she will go after it, but she never brings it back

teach them . a retriever breed has to be thought , it dont come natural ..

Despite their name, the ability to retrieve what you throw does not come naturally. You need to teach them how.
They gained their name because they were bred to retrieve shot down water fowl. And had a golden coloured coat. hence the name ‘Golden Retriever’.
Google ‘teach your dog to retrieve/fetch’. I’m sure you’ll find goodadvice there.
