I want to buy an old english bulldog do you think it is right for my family? Details below?

I want a dog that can be both an indoor and outdoor dog. I want a dog that is good with kids. A dog that is a protector but not a guard dog. Also I live in a hot climate.

Does an old english bulldog sound like a good fit?
I have a back yard but it is small.

   Dog Lovers Mega Pack

   A bulldog could never be an outdoor dog – especially not in a hot climate. These dogs have respiratory problems to begin with and need air conditioning or fans on them when they’re in the house in the heat.

   If from dogs with good temperaments and raised and socialized correctly, they’re fine with kids. You need to check out breeders very, very carefully given all the health problems inherent in bulldogs. But I doubt you’ll find a breeder willing to sell a puppy to anyone who wants to keep it outside for any length of time.
