<a href="http://nicherich.cee123.hop.clickbank.net/">Dove Cresswells Dog Training</a>

Both are lovely breeds. I would suggest getting the GR first. You can raise it and then it will help you teach and raise your GSD. As GRs are more gentle it will be an excellent role model for your new GSD. Plus, the idea of a hyper 1 year old GSD and then a hyper GR puppy may be a little too much!
They'll get on fine, don't worry about that, just choose their personailities carefully. For example, if you get a dominant male GR, don't get a dominant male GSD or they'll wear you out with their squabbles! I would recommend a Male GR and a female GSD. That will give you the greatest opportunity for them to settle and enjoy each other's company.

<a href="http://nicherich.sitstay.hop.clickbank.net/">Sit Stay Fetch, Good Dog!</a>

best to get them together but if not, golden first because it's a less aggressive dog and will get along better with a puppy. Do not get two males unless they grow up together!!! ps. I had this mix and they loved each other dearly, male golden, female shepard.

I have a Golden and my daughter brought home a Husky several years later. Goldens are wonderful dogs and when trained, they will please everyone. Since Huskies are know to be difficult to train, it made a perfect match. Our Golden was a perfect model for our Hus key. I would think you would have good results by getting a Golden first and then a German shepherd. Both are great breeds if well trained, yet the Golden is more likely to gentle the Shepherd some. You won't have to worry about him guarding you..... that is a natural tendency for a Shepherd

<a href="http://nicherich.locklin.hop.clickbank.net/">Start a Doggie Daycare</a>

You are so wise to ask this question before getting your dogs!

Get the Golden first..they are less aggressive to other dogs, less territorial, and need to be the oldest, to make the relationship work the best..

Get the Golden first. That would be the safest route to take in my opinion. You should ideally get them together though so they grow up knowing each other. I don't know what your reasoning is though so I'll add that you should socialize your Golden puppy to GSD puppies while she grows up to help her be accepting of the new baby when you bring her home. Ideally get two bitches or a dog and bitc.h because two males will fight.
Edit: To lu m: Where did you come up with a Labrador? This person said GOLDEN. GOLDEN and LABRADOR are TOTALLY different!!! lol

i don't think that these breeds get along - because they are both so large and loud and roudy. it's best though, if you have to, to get the labrador first because the german shepherd learns that the boss is the labrador, and is therefore not so jumpy and dangerous.

I'm guessing here...but I would say retriever first because shepherds tend to be a little more possesive. If you get the retriever first, then the sheps coming into his territory instead of the other way around. Not even sure if these two dogs would get along. Had a shep at one time, friend had a retriever at one time, but not at the same time so I don't know. It also depends on the individual dog's personality.

I agree with extre, get the retriever first. Shepherd's are great dogs, but more territorial/protective IMO from my experiences. Retriever's are just so laid back and love everything.
