well your breeder is probably wrong unless the dog has some allergy to something in the food in which case you would only need to switch brands. as for the problem at hand, you need to feed the puppy a puppy food. it is specially formulated for the dog’s growing needs. as for how much to feed him that depends on the brand. weigh your dog and then look at the food bag. there should be a scale based on weight. feed him the appropriate amount for his weight

I have a beagle mix pup that is 9 weeks old. I feed her 1 1/2 cup of food a day, she ways 8 lbs. the food i use is Science Diet puppy. This what they feed at the local shelter where i adopted her. However I have always used a good brand for my pets.
