One suggestion – don’t. My son made the mistake of thinking how “cute” it would be to teach his beagle that – despite what I said. Problem is that the dog, who’s natural inclination is to bark or howl anyway, is now being PRAISED for it! A beagle thinks this is just too cool and then you can’t shut them up.

Beagles love to sing, so training it to do so is only a matter of teaching the dog how to do it on cue. Clicker training might do the trick of attaching a command to the action. However, be sure to teach “quiet” as well.
