Dachshund
Mr. Jake asked:

I have a Chihuahua and a Chi-weenie (part Dachshund and part Chihuahua). But now I want a full Miniature Dachshund. But first I need to no if it will evan fit through the small dog door I have right now. So please help me by telling me the average height and weight of an adult Miniature Dachshund.
Some of you are confused. When I said “tall” I meant from the bottom of its front paw to the top of its head not from its tail to its nose.

Chihuahuas
orangenyellow_roses asked:

I just saw online someone selling teacup chihuahuas for $1200 to $1500. Is that common to sell these pups for that much? They say the dog will be 1.5lb to 2.5lbs as an adult.

How do I get my two pugs to stop running around the house, biting each other? They go nuts running around, chasing each other. One is a 5 month old puppy, the other is a 4 year old adult.

Jeffrey Veal asked:

The joy of owning a puppy and seeing it grow up is among the most gratifying experiences that a dog lover could ask for. There are many things that you and the puppy will discover about each other en route to establishing a long and trusting relationship. House training a puppy is one of the first tasks that completed if you are going to have the puppy indoors for any length of time. Fortunately, a puppy learns things very fast, and house training can be learned very quickly. This is why it is so important to establish the correct house training routine while the puppy is at a young age. The house training routine that a puppy acquires can be difficult to break once it is established, so it is important to get it right the first time. One of the most significant things to do during the initial house training of a puppy is to observe the puppy Keep a close eye on the puppy while at the same time observing the time. If your puppy is very active, and the weather is nice outside, it is nothing wrong with taking him outside more than once an hour. He has to drink more water than he would if he were an adult dog due to his metabolism being so fast. He has to eat a lot more often to feed this higher metabolism, also. Just remember that all of this eating and drinking will make the puppy have to “go” more than normal.A method of house training that has the puppy using the bathroom on newspapers is called the paper method. Teaching your puppy to relieve himself indoors, then expecting him to make the transition to relieve himself outdoors will tend to confuse your young puppy. It will take longer and be more difficult to house train your puppy using this method, studies have shown. By teaching your puppy to “go” outside, he will learn that it is not acceptable to “go” in the house. Also, the puppy could get in the habit of relieving itself near the newspaper rather than on the newspaper. Just keep things consistent by having your puppy relieve himself only outside.A very effective system that develops positive results is known as the “crate” system. The puppy is kept in a crate for roughly an hour before he is taken outdoors to relieve himself. While in the crate, the puppy is trained to “hold it” until he is let out to relieve himself, which is normally outdoors. Why this system works so well is based on the puppy doesn’t want to relieve himself in its living area. If you keep the puppy in the crate too long, it could cause him to relieve himself in the crate. If this happens, it can compromise this training technique.House training a puppy is an essential step in dog training if you would like your puppy to establish good habits from the beginning. Being consistent and giving you puppy a lot of praise is an important part in house training your puppy. It is okay if the puppy has an accident during this training, because the process is not an overnight thing. By carrying the puppy outside more often, this should put an end to these accidents. If the puppy has an accident after training has ended, don’t punish him. Merely return back to the training process temporarily and you’ll be back on track in no time.

JennyJo asked:

When she first meets a dog she automatically tries to establish dominance. If the other dog is submissive, things are fine, but at times she just doesn’t get along with others–especially if it’s an adult dog. Is there a way that I can be the dominant one and keep her from doing this with other dogs or do I just need to let the dogs work it out.

Miniature Schnauzer
Fred J asked:

I do not understand why I would be alergic to a miniature schnauzer puppy when I had one as a child and previously as an adult. I have bathed the dog several times, but after being around it for just a few minutes, my throat gets sore, and feels clogged up, and it is difficult to swallow. Does anyone know why I would be allergic to a puppy or this breed when I previously had no problem?
