I need some advice on family dogs. I am very parcial to Boxers, Great Danes, and Mastiffs. I am looking to get a “big” dog; however, I still want a good temperment with little kids. Does anyone have any thoughts or expericences to help?

I am wanting to start a career in the dog grooming business and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on where to even start. I applied at local pet stores where grooming is avaliable and looked into schools, but some of them cost more than 2,000. I was wondering if anyone had any idea on this subject..thank you!

I am considering adopting a german shepherd from a shelter. She is two or three years old and very friendly, but I’m not sure because people say you have to start to train and socialize german shepherds right away. Does anyone out there have a german shepherd? Any advice? Tell me everything about your experiences!

I’m a new mom a beautiful baby girl. She is now 6 weeks old. From the time I have brought her home my old baby has been jealous (a 6 year old pug.)I can’t get her stop peeing on the floor. She hasn’t done this since she was a pup. I love her to death and getting rid of her is really not an option. I just need to start over with her I think? Any advice????

We have a doberman puppy that is 14 weeks old, and we have recently started training him for Schutzhund. He is doing really well with the bite rag, and doing everything he should with that. My problem is that he doesn’t want to focus on me when we are doing his obedience work. He only wants to focus on his treat, not look at me, which is what he is supposed to do. I was reading an article about getting them to focus, and i tried it, which was they said to have a treat, and hold it away from you, and get your dog to look at you then give it the treat. I tried that, and all my pup would do is look at the treat for ever, then get bored, and loose interest. So i need some more ideas how to get this to work. He is a very smart puppy, he already knows sit, and down, but he gets confused sometimes. Does this mean he just doesn’t really know what he is doing?? How can we fix this also? How long do you wait before you start to teach him a new trick after he has leaned the first one?
Also, any advice on Schutzhund training would be very appreciated. I don’t know much about it, i have been researching it alot, but still feel confused. He have a trainer that is working with us, but he is just worried about Phoenix, our pup, on getting used to the bite rag and doing that, not about the obedience work, and the scenting and all that, just the bite rag. So, i am wanting to know, what all should we be doing with him now, at 14 weeks. What should he know, and what all should we do to get him a good start in this??? Thanks!!!
sorry this is alot, and a few questions, i am not trying to be confusing, just wanting to know a few different things, and didn’t want to make different posts. Thank you all for you “helpful” answers

This is my first night to have him and the lady who asked me to take him gave me $50 toward having him fixed she couldn’t keep him because her other dog disliked him major. He seems very sweet iI also keep my 9 month old grandson should I keep he away from him he seen him and was scared of the baby! He just seems to have been badly mistreated and wants to be loved.I had a boxer for several years and never had any trouble with him but I became too attached to him and greived terribly when he died.

I’ve always wanted a German Shepherd. I hope to get one in a few months. Are there any tips for getting and training a friendly, loyal dog who is gentle around children and doesn’t bark his head off?

I work part time and I go to school part time. This means I am not gone for long periods at a time, but am in and out frequently. I live in a nice sized one bedroom apartment on the second floor. I am not married and I do not have kids. I like to be active so exercise won’t be an issue. I would like to get a companion but am unsure of which breed would be best for my living circumstances. I wouldn’t want a breed that is known for barking b/c of my close neighbors. I used to have an American Staffordshire Terrier and he was a GREAT DOG but he was an outside dog (back in the days when I had a backyard). Do you think another one of those would fit into my apartment living?
