I have been wanting a puppy for so long and I’m thinking about buying one next year. My all time favorite was always yorkies! They’re so cute. But then I went into a pet store and was playing with a little pom and my heart nearly melted. This will be my first pet. I live in an Apartment with my boyfriend, no kids. What do you guys think?

I have a 1 year old pug and we live in an apartment. We just got construction done on ALL of the apartments and went from enclosed balconies to ones with bars. Now he sees everyone walkin by, and while he LOVES anybody he comes into contact with, he now barks at them passing by and anything unfamiliar. He was not a barker when he was younger and I would like to learn to stop his barking so we don’t receive any complaints and so I do not have to keep him from the balcony. Help!

Does anyone know how a Yorkshire Terrier would do in an apartment setting?

When I walk my beagle for a while, I find that he actually ends up with more energy when coming back from his walk. My beagle come back inside and then runs around my apartment- I let him do it so that he can tire himself out. I also have him play catch and have him run up and down the stairs because he is full of energy lol
My male beagle is 11 months.

Do chihuahuas make good apartment pets? I have been wanting to get a small dog, one that isn’t too expensive.

I am getting a puppy soon, and saw an ad for a lakeland and yorkie cross, and I was just wondering if anyone knows what it would look like? Large dogs are a big big nono for me as I live in an apartment, so I would like to know the size too.

We currently have a shih tzu/bichon frise mix, and we’re looking at getting him a playmate toward the end of the year when we move from an apartment to a house. We’ve encountered a couple of chihuahuas lately and rather like the little guys, but I’d love to hear from people who have owned them and have more experience with the breed. I know socialization at a young age makes a big difference as to whether they tolerate other dogs and humans later in life.

I have a Jack Russell Terrier, just over a year old. I live in an apartment complex where a lot of people own dogs.

When I am walking my dog and he spots another dog, he wildly tries to pull me in that direction. If the dog is close, my dog lets out loud shrill screams and continues to try to pull me. It is almost impossible to control and its embarassing.

Other than that he is very well behaved for a JRT and he is real smart. Just a little wild in certain situations, this being the worst.

So what can I do to control this behavior?
he’s not aggressive in a mean way. He just is curious I think and wants to play. But he plays rough with other dogs like wrestling around and nipping (no intent to hurt). If I let him check out the other dog, They sniff, then start wrestling and the leashes get tangled up.

I just brought home a 6wk beagle puppy a couple of days ago. When I went to leave for work today I put her in her crate and she started whelping immediatly. She was so loud and living in an apartment I was afraid she was going to wake my neighbors so I got her out and soothed her till she fell asleep. Does anybody have any suggestions? I can’t do that every morning or I will be late for work.
