should i start running with my 7 year old German shepherd?

i have a 7 year old german shepherd dog, he is super unfit, mainly because my old man can’t walk him far anymore due to debilitating arthritis! so anyway, my question is this, is it too late for me to start thinking about taking the dog running?, say once a week/fortnight? what sort of distances should i be looking at to start with? or should i even bother? any advice would be much appreciated.

What kind of young dog do i get while owning an old dog?

My dog is 13 years old. She is a golden retriever and she has arthritis in her legs. She is a very kind dog and cannot do too much anymore. I am thinking about getting another dog along with her. What kind of dog should I get who wont bother or pester my dog? A dog that she can get along with. People have suggested a small dog, not another golden because I know that they are rowdy when they are young. Can anyone help?
