I have a boxer that is about a year and a half old. He is in no way a mean dog but he seems to have the stereotypical obsession with cats. He will look out of the window for hours at a time just to see one, and pulls at the leash if he sees one on a walk. He is very calm much of the time, and I try to give him enough exercise.

My husband and I adopted a 4-year-old boxer from his coworkers because they recently had a baby, and the dog was very jealous. When we first got Sadie, she was very sweet. In fact, she is still an angel with us. But as time goes on, we have realized that Sadie is VERY jealous, VERY territorial, and is just not very socialized at all. It seems that those people did not ever have her around other dogs OR children.

Is there any way to socialize the dog at this stage? Some people have suggested that I get one of the training collars, and deliver a small shock via remote every time she is aggressive (when we are walking, usually). Does anyone agree/disagree or have any other suggestions? This is a very large dog, 70 pounds, and though she does not try to bite, she is very loud and menacing. Please help!

How often do you cut your dog’s nails? And what type of clippers should I use? We want to go to Petsmart but if we can find similar products somewhere else, that would be great. We just got a 10 month old boxer, almost 65lbs.

What I mean by that is what characteristics and features do you have to look for in each dog in order to tell what breed they are? For example how do you tell the difference from say a doberman pincher, and say a rottweiler terrier, or any of the dog breeds that there are? Also where did they get their names from such as boxer, pitbull, doberman pincher, and so forth and so forth? Thanks for your answers in advanced.

I have a 6 month old Boston Terrier/Schipperkee mix who I absolutely love to death but I think he gets lonely sometimes. I’d love to get him a friend, but I’m unsure what type of dog would be best with him. I’d like to go the bigger route like a boxer or something like that. Thoughts?

Im getting a 18 month old boxer from the pound. they say she is a dominate female dog and does not get along with other cats or dogs. So i guess my question is how do i train her to be able to get along with other cats and dogs. remember she is 18 months old and a dominate female dog.

I take my boxer for one walk for about one to one and a half hours a day (with a friends dog so gets lots of excercise). The research i’ve done says that minature schnauzers need about 40-60minutes excercise a day. Will it be possible for both dogs to get their required excercise without tiring one out too much and not giving the other enough.

My 5-year-old pit bull Lady Girl is pregnant for the first time. She is pregnant by a boxer and my brother and I are wondering how costly is it when your dog is pregnant and what does it cost once she has her litter…like the shots, vet visit, etc? Lady can’t have any shots right now since she’s pregnant, but we are wondering if its expensive once the puppies are born. Please only serious and knowledgeable answers. This is our first time and we are very nervous.

My husband is concerned about getting a dog that is aggressive or too dominant. I have read a bit about boxers and they seem like really good dogs but I am looking for some general information about them from people who actually have one.

I am thinking of getting a boxer or syberian huskie. How do you make it so the dog just likes me, only listens to me, guards me, etc.. I would buy the dog as a puppy of course. im not trying to make it a killer but not trying to make it a pussy. Well thanks
