pinky j asked:
My TFT has been the family pet for so long. When we bought him he was nervous and insecure. You could tell he was not raised in a happy, loving environment. Through our warmth and kindness he learned to trust people. When the new pup came, we noticed his indifference, it’s understandable it has only been 2 days. But considering we are giving him double attention to avoid rivalry he still won’t warm up. The
beagle pup is female. Shows trust and socialbility to everyone. You can tell she came from a secure, loving environment. Did we choose the wrong pup?

nubian_qween03 asked:
I used to own an American
Bulldog who sadly met a most unfortunate accident and was put to sleep. Needless to say it took sometime to get over the loss of a great dog. Now it’s roughly a year later and I think I’m ready to get a new pet. Finding an American
Bulldog without going throuhg a breeder is next to impossible. But to hear my dear mother tell it, it can be done. So I need some other options, what other type of dog can I get; large breed preferably, that won’t cause me to shell out a large portion of my pockets.

Dreamer asked:
I want a dog that can watch the house and bark if strangers approach or try to invade. Will a labrador do the job as a family pet and watch dog?
I heard some dogs will lick every strangers, even intruders and burglars…
Yes, I want a dog that barks to alarm me, but not bite! No biting, I don’t want any crazy liablities!

Autumn P asked: I know the cost of a purebred chihuahuas has probably increased with the appearance of the tacobell dog a few years ago and Paris Hilton using them as a statis symbol. But when you want one just to love and hug, Just for a pet why do you have to go into debt? Pet quality non-breeding (spayed and neutered) chihuahuas are no better than a mutt, really. I am just curious. I will probably go to the local humane society and adopt a small cute dog. It is just that there was always a chihuahuas around when I was growing up and I thought I’d like to have one now. But I can’t go into that much debt.
I have learned (in Canada) most breeders spay or neuter the chihuahuas before selling them and they are still asking from $1200.00 to $2000.00. I have contacted 2 Rescue Shelters and they are selling these chihuahuas for $1200.00. I am not looking for a show quality dog. I am looking for a pet. Only a pet. I do not want to mortgage my house either. For the price breeders are asking for a “fixed” dog is rediculous. I mean they are no longer show quality. They can not be used for breeding. There valu other than a statis symbol is “0″. I am not looking for a statis symbol. or a shiny object to place on my finger. I just want a pet. Chihuahuas were a family pet when I was growing up. I can tell you we paid no more that $200.00 then. I just find this pricing for a dog you just want to love is silly.
I agree. If these dogs are show quality dogs then ask the $1200 to $2000 price.
But once you spay or neuter them (most breeders in Canada seem to do this) there is no monitary value left for the dog. It is just a fixed dog. Worthless.
I am not saying that it isn’t difficult to breed these little guys. And I don’t care that you spay or neuter them. I don’t mind reimbursing the breeder for the neutering, and first shots and a little something extra for actually breeding the pup. But to ask $1200.00 for a non-breeding, unshowable dog is …. well just crazy. I don’t mean to argue the point. But as yet I haven’t seen an answer that best answers my question. Why are breeders asking $1200.00 to $2000.00 for a non-breeding already spayed/neutered, unshowable dog?

Dog Obedience Training asked: Dogs are the best friend of everybody. It is loyal and obliging. However, you will need to train the dog carefully before it is able to be your best friend. In fact dogs are brilliant and can be tough. Only when you train your family pet, getting him to stay put in a place is important. It will be very frustrating to have your guest being uncomfortable when your dog is pouncing or jumping around. Conversation is impossible when you have to search for your dog continuously in the park because it just does not stay in one place. By giving this instruction, this instruction, you already have the dog sitting obediently in one place.

Marvelissa asked: I am considering getting a family pet from a No Kill Animal Rescue, and there is a great dog – a
Boxer – there who is 3 years old, he’s about 60 lbs.
Would an 11 year old be able to successfully walk this breed and would it obey an 11 year old’s commands – like when it’s time to stop the walk and come back home?
Also, at 3 years old, will this breed still train? Whatever animal we pick, I will take it to obedience classes and have my daughter do the classes and daily at-home training.

frooliemew asked: I have two young children and would like to get a dog. We have two cats but I feel like it’s time for a dog. I don’t want a large dog but I don’t want one of those small old lady dogs either (I won’t be putting it in the shopping cart to go to the grocery). I would prefer short hair because I don’t want to be vacuuming up dog hair all the time.
