How should I convince my dad to let me get a golden retriever?

My mom said “ask your dad” sooooo yeah. I have a maltese poodle right now, and i take good care of him and he sleeps with me. my other dog died (actually killed, but thats a long story :[ ) in august and my parents said we could get another dog in the spring.
so what are some good things about golden retrievers that I can tell my dad.
are there any bad things?

When is the appropiate time for my golden retriever to become pregnant?

I want them to make puppies, but I don’t know when would be an appropiate time for tasha (the female) to become pregnant. Of course, considering that the puppies should be healthy and that she would not be in danger.
