I understand that its probably sad but it hasn’t ate all day. He was with the older woman for about 4 years and she gave him to me because she knew I would take care of it. I’ve been trying to play with it for hours! It still just lies there and looks sad. He only lifts his head when someone is at the door. His food is out and he sniffed and licked it a few times but thats all. He’s a house trained miniature schnauzer by the way…What can I do to get him to respond to me? How can I cure his sadness?

Have an 8 lb. “toy” miniature schnauzer. Not shedding, supposedly good for people with allergies, but my wife still has reaction to the dog. Are there any good vacuums or air purifiers which would help with limiting dander?

…And I’m not sure how my 10 year old Miniature Schnauzer will react. He thinks he’s king of the castle and our baby but I thought he would enjoy a puppy playmate. Can you share your experiences or perhaps someone you know had a good or bad experience doing this. As much as I want another dog I don’t want to upset him permantely. Perhaps they adjust after a while? I’m torn!!! Thanks.

My dog (9 y/o Miniature Schnauzer) has been coughing really bad, and dry heaving, and I think it is because while I was at work today she got into whay was left of my blooming onion from outback steakhouse, which is kinda spicy. I am thinking she has heartburn, and I don’t know what to do for her. Any suggestions? I gave her a fresh bowl of water, she I can’t get her to drink any. I have some cimetidine heartburn pills that I take myself, but im afraid to give one to her cause I don’t know how it would affect her. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

I have a puppy that I didn’t really want but he was in a bad situation so we took him. I purchased my Miniature Schnauzer from my brother. He was neglected and in need of love and care. I know that Schnauzers are naturally hyper but when I leave the house he stands at the door and howls and whines. When I am in the house he follows me around. If I shut the bathroom door he piddles out side the door. If I sit down he jumps in my lap and wont stay down no matter how many times I put him on the floor. I don’t mind him following me around the house but when I turn around to walk another direction he doesn’t move and if it is dark I can’t see him and he gets stepped on a lot. I don’t want him to get hurt. How do I reassure him that I am not going to give him away and show him he doesn’t have to follow me everywhere?

I have a huge Airdale, a medium sized Labradoodle, and a small Miniature Schnauzer. I love them all but I do prefer bigger dogs.
