My miniature schnauzer is about 9 months old. We also have a male dog. Well our female went into heat for the first time and they got together and mated. We took her to the vet and let her get the shot that is supposed to put her in heat for another week where she will not be pregnant. Well when we got home, I was putting a lock on my door to keep her contained, and they got together again! I called the vet and she said that it wouldnt matter as long as she did not mate the rest of the week because the shot took 24 hrs to take effect. Well we sent the male dog to my grandma and it has been a week today from when she got the shot. She still seems active but her nipples and vagina are still swollen, but she is not bleeding like she did when she was in heat. I called the vet again and she said that she is sure that she is not pregnant. Could this be a false pregnancy since she is a small dog?

I want them to make puppies, but I don’t know when would be an appropiate time for tasha (the female) to become pregnant. Of course, considering that the puppies should be healthy and that she would not be in danger.
