Suki’s Mommy asked:
I have a 7 week old female chihuahua, and I was thinking about putting her into a couple of dog shows.
I have a female that is 7 weeks old I forgot the first time to say that she is AKC registered and works daily with a friend of mine who is a professional obedience school trainer.

First, your puppy must be AKC registered. It must also meet the breed standards and at 7 weeks old, it is too young to tell if it will be show quality or not. I suggest you go to local dog shows and talk to Chihuahua owners and look at their dogs. You can take your puppy with you and see what they think as to her quality. Most pups are 6 months old before you can tell if they are show quality or not.

Hello,
Here is an AKC site that will tell you the Breed Standard of the Chihuahuas.
Check out the AKC Site below.

Characteristics of the Chihuahua Dog Breed – Chihuahuas are toy dogs and generally considered to be the smallest breed. Most weigh between 2-6 pounds. Dogs exceeding six pounds in weight or that have broken down ears are disqualified. Most Chihuahuas are shortcoat (shorthair), longcoat (longhair) or smoothcoat (a combination of both). They have pointed ears and deer-like or apple heads. Colors vary. True Chihuahuas have not been bred down, but are naturally small.
they also can’t b altered. and have 2 b registered.
they must meet those standards
Good Luck!
hope 2 c ya with the blue ribbon.

Right off the bat…if it’s only 7 wks, betcha it’s NOT show quality. Reputable breeder would NOT let it leave that young.
Does it have LIMITED registration? Can’t show in conformation, only performance events.
Dogs MUST be 6 mons.+ to enter ANY event.
Do **NOT** take ANY un-entered dog to any SHOW! ESPECIALLY a PUP!!!
