crjourdenais asked:
I am fully aware of all of the fantastic benefits of adopting a rescue dog, going through animal shelters, etc. All of the dogs and cats I have had have been adopted from shelters. However, I would like to raise a puppy and I would like the puppy to be a golden retriever. Names of breeders would be helpful, or just contact info for people who have a litter would be great as well. Thanks!

It’s amazing. They do have purebred dogs and puppies, but they’re all from shelters so you get the best of both worlds!
Remember that purebred dogs do tend to have more health problems than “mutts,” so be prepared to spend a ton of money over the years on vet bills. (This is because there is alot of inbreeding in purbred dogs–all breeds–while mutts get the best genes from all of the various breeds that are in it.) Not trying to discourage you, just letting you know if you didn’t. Most of the people I know who have had purebred Golden Retrievers have had to go through the heartache of putting the dog to sleep because of cancer.
