I like working dogs so I would go with a well bred AB. French Mastiffs are cool but nearly all the working ability has been bred out of them.

get either one that catches your eye. They both r great breeds, so check around and if one really seems too catch your attention then that’s the dog for you. Take your time it’s a big commitment and responsibility

Yeah they both are good breeds. My mom has a mastiff and my sister has an American bulldog. I like the American bulldog more b/c he is much more playful, but he does pass a lot a of gas and slobbers a lot too.The mastiff is very protective and she doesn’t really get along with outsiders or other dogs, but she is very loyal to her owners. So both breeds are good in different ways.

I’m partial to ab’s myself. I love their personality, playfull and protective. They also make good exercise companions (in the right weather) I like Scotts lines looks the best. Mastiffs are great dogs but I find them a little aloof for my liking. As far as price, I know ab’s go from $500-$1000 around here from a breeder. Not sure on mastiffs I know some neopolitan breeders who’s pups run around $1000. You can find ab’s in some shelters

I don’t know much about American Bulldogs but I do have a French Mastiff. She is 6 now and she is still very playful. She is however VERY protective which is good and bad. I can’t have her home when something is getting delivered. Ordering Pizza is always fun, my husband has to hold her why I go to the door. On the flip side I feel fine walking her at night by myself and you better believe that no robber would get into my house. She is also very tolerable of children. My 3 year old daughter bugs her to no end and we have yet to have any incidents. She is a wonderful breed and she is so pretty.
